Kingston, OCZ and Super Talent USB Flash Drives

With Flash memory prices being more than affordable one can find 2GB USB keys for just over $20, which is a heck of a bargain compared to what a couple of years ago. The first thumb drive Legit Reviews wrote about was the $39 Trek ThumbDrive Secure 16MB back in 2003! This drive was capable of 700kB/sec read speeds, which is nothing compared to the latest drives that are pushing over 30,000kB/sec!

I can't believe they have online reviews of this drive at other sites going back to mid May 2007 and none are available even a month later... It's a shame really... Why give media samples of products that consumers can't even buy... It seems like a waste of time to us and our readers to be honest...

I've sent over 13 e-mails back and forth with Super Talent and haven't been told of a retailer that has them... I've called two marketing people with no lucking getting someone on the phone too...

I just did another google search on Super Talent DH-B1GBK and came up with one source... Today's article (damn google indexed that in under three hours)

you sure it's the 200x version? It just came out recently and the distributer price is way over $4...

They have other versions with this same casing, so don't go by looks alone!

I decided to test one of the findings of the review: I called our 22-year-old daughter over to the computer and, after showing her the photo of the two normal-sized drives, scrolled down to show the Kingston. The plan was to ask her if the Kingston was "cute." No need to ask - when she saw the Kingston, she did the girl-thing where she clasps her hands together and simultaneously squeals "It's cuuute!"

Thus, Legit Reviews' finding (the Kingston Mini DT is "cute") is confirmed by an independent source.

Frankly, even I'm charmed by the size and looks of the little Kingston, despite my normal emphasis on performance specs.
