Intel 1066FSB Processors Arrive w/ the Intel 925XE Chipset

The wait for 1066FSB Intel Platforms is over! The i925XE northbridge and the 3.46EE (13x266) processor has arrived!

There is a small performance gain by bumping up the FSB and over the next 6 months Intel will begin producing 1066FSB prescott processors also. So, if you can't afford one of the $999 3.46EE's don't worry lower priced mainstream processors are coming down the pipes.

One question:
If you place an Intel 560 (Prescott 3.6GHz) into the new 925XE board can you set it to run at 1066FSB?

When I placed our Intel 560 processor into the the new reference board it forced it to be at the 800MHz FSB. So it looks like no matter what CPU you put in the reference Intel board you will only be able to run it at the factory set speed.

As for third party boards only time will tell, but it is likely that some of the known overclocking companies will allow that.

I delayed my motherboard purchase for the 1066FSB Intel i925XE and now it looks like they are staying with 800 for the near future, 64-bit instead.

you can convert to AMD at any time and have 1000mhz "front side bus" and 64bits for less than an intel
