MPEG-2 Video Decoder

Does any one know of any freeware for MPEG-2 video decoder?

Heres my situation...I had a dell laptop with an Angel usb tv tuner. It came with Power DVD which contained the decoder. Power DVD will not install on my machine (sig below) because its not a Dell, so now I need the decoder to get TV to run on Media Center. I installed AVS DVD Player and it plays DVD's fine, but doesn't have a compatible mpeg-2 decoder. I also tried WinDVD, and about 10 different decoder packs and they didn't work. I'm running xp mce 2005. Any suggestions?

I tried the "MPEG-2 Video Player for Windows" there but couldn't find a way to install the zipped files.

Dunno if that will do it or not.

If you installed the codec packs from around the web, just make sure you have the MPEG2 ones checked to install. As far as I recall, windows media player will play mpeg2 content right out of the box..??

LoL...of course I extracted them first... I was just trying to save time and extra typing. The problem is that there are no executable or install files in the files that were extracted.

Update: I found "Elecard MPEG-2 decoder" and installed it. Its MCE compatible, but not MP10 compatible, so I'm advised NOT to set it as my preferred decoder. I chose it anyway and now I can see TV on my MCE, but MP10 will not play DVD's. Why does it have to be such a difficult task to get the proper decoders? And yes Mike, I thought the same thing...you would think that the necessary decoders would come with MP10. /shrug
