Recommendation please

Postby DL126 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 10:02 am

Which would be better for my board?

http://biz.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=3412

or

http://biz.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=3412

or

Do you have a better suggestion?
$250.00 would be my upper limit.

Thought about just getting 2 more 1GB stix.
But for some reason, Halo1 won't launch with 4 populated slots. ????
So figured I'd try a pair of 2GB and see what happens.

I do realize that 3.25 +/- is all i'll be able to take advantage of, but I have Vista 64 and might decide to go back to it one of these days.

TIA

The one with 5-4-4-18 timings is what I suggest... lower timings means better performance. In this case it's also cheaper also after the rebate, so it will perform better and cost less (if you do the rebate).

Never heard of the Halo issue... Do you have the latest motherboard BIOS?

Yea, got the latest BIOS.

After I made the original post, I started wondering if maybe it was a 4GB issue on 32 bit instead of 4 populated slots.
Because the error that it kept giving me was that i didn't have enough memory to run the game.
I didn't get this error when i was running it on Vista 64 w/4x1GB sticks.
It started after I went back to x86 Vista w/4x1GB. ????

Everything else worked fine on x86 w/4x1GB.
It was only H1 that screwed up.

Hell I've decided to just keep things where they are now.
To be honest, I'm really about tired of pumping money into this unit.
Including all software & peripherals, I'm WELL into quad digits!
Time to stop!! (Before the wife shoots me!)

I got my OC to where it is now by using Bwall's suggestions here ...

Reckon that should be good enough for any mere mortal like myself. :)
