What happens when you try to boot into XP?

Do you get ANY on-screen messages?

Also, If you have a CD of Knoppix etc. you could try boot from that and see if the rig works, this way you'll eliminate the HDD as the culprit.

If you have a floppy available you might try running memtest to see if it's the memory, if you have another hard drive available try disconnecting the dual boot raptor and connecting another hard drive and try loading single boot xp. Memtest would eliminate the memory, different hard drive eliminate raptor problems.

I keep an old 20 gig around and back up my new install to that, then disconnect it. When I have problems I can test with it, or in a spot boot to it for a while.

Press the "Escape" key when linux is loading to see the output messages. Then take note of what message it stops at and report back.
It sounds like a motherboard/bios or gfx card issue. Are you sure everything is connected correctly?
Also it could be a voltage issue, try manually setting the cpu to 1.375v - Memory @ 2.1v & up the chipset voltage by .1v as well.

You have tried to reset the bios?

Resetting the BIOS for now to default all your overclock back to stock (even if it was stable) gets my vote for now.

if there isnt anything important on the hardrive then you could just try nuking it and doing a fresh install to see if that helps

running memtest from the liveCD... been over an hour and some change with no errors... waiting it out and downloading/checksumming the UBCD EXE file

more as soon as the memtest is finished.

i might not get around to the testing tonight, as my girl is only back on break for another week and i'm tryin to get some time in with her, but i'll probably just make sure the ISO burns right.

more to come im sure

thanks guys, if im not back soon i'll be back tomorrow!
