speed of a 4000+ clocked at 2.65

Postby DX » Wed Feb 13, 2008 3:34 pm

I have my 4000+ clocked at 2.65. I was wondering what speed that would equal on the speed scale and just how far people have been able to push the 4000+ on air cooling.

That's in line with the X2 5000 which runs at 2.6. It depends on your air cooling how far you can go, what are your idle and load temps now? Keep in mind that as you increase voltages to achieve higher speeds temps will go higher faster on AMD cpus. From memory operating temps on that cpu are 41 to 71C, I wouldn't take it above 55C for any extended period.

Great. I haven't bumped voltages yet but this has to hold me for a while till I get a second job to pay off a few debts (credit cards).

I checked the temps last night and I'm running at 41c on air. Though my office is pretty cool most of the time at 60f.

I haven't checked on that specific processor but my X2 3800 and X2 4200 operating temps were 41C-71C. I try not to get above 50C for any extended period regardless of what specifications say. At 41C given normal use you shouldn't have a heat issue. If your folding @ home, or utilize programs that drive both processors at 100% for extended periods (most people don't) then you might want to check temps during hard usage after an hour or two.
