Displaying computer on my plasma help please

Well I hooked a computer up to my Panasonic th50px75u 50" plasma and the image is cut off on the top, bottom, right, and left. I have been reading on the web how some people say you have to use adjustments in the tv, but others say you have to use adjustments on the video card

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how you fixed it.

Native res is at the 1280X768 (whatever 720p is, is what it is set for).

Even at startup everything is cut off the screen. I do not have windows on this computer, I was using a Live Ubuntu cd to test it out.

I had to lower my PC resolution to 1024x768 to get a proper full screen!
At That Res its great!

in the nvidia control panel you will find a HDTV setting where you can "Adjust" the screen, it will allow you to choose how wide or tall your display will be. This is a pain in the anus though because every time your resolution changes, you must also change the shape. If possible, I suggest you use the VGA input on the TV instead of the HDMI, or S-Video port. This will make your computer think it is hooked up to a regular monitor, and your TV will know it is a computer hooked up. You won't have to do the manual screen adjustments because your TV does it for you.

But s-video sux for reading words on the tv

I dont have a VGA input or a DVI input

Any way to do this in Linux? Any way to do this so I can see the installation screens for installing windows?

Even if I change the resolution to 800X600, 640X480, etc it still cuts off the sides and the top and bottom. Maybe ause the plasma isnt setup for a computer display?

I use a DVI->HDMI cable, well I did - I only have to HDMI ports on the tv and my directv hd box and then the dvd player take those up. Guess if I find out how to change the screen size thing in linux I will just have to alternate between the dvd player and the computer. Cant use both at once anyway

Or you could use the DVD player on your computer if you have a DVD drive. Good luck with the screen resize... I really enjoy having a huge screen!
