Tagan BZ-800 w/ NVIDIA VERY noisy.. BEWARE!!

Without question the Tagan BZ line LOOKS cool. But its beauty is only skin deep. I recently purchased a BZ-800. Included in the box is every item you can imagine, including gloves!

My entire system is water cooled including the video card (Specs at bottom). The video cards cooler was installed at the factory. The only fan in the system is in the PSU and it is rather quite.

So whats the problem? As load (not necessarily framerate) increases on my Nvida 8800GTX I get increasing whining/buzzing from the powersupply. So basicly, putting ANY stress on the video card produces this noise. After RMAing the first PSU and having the identical problem with the second, I switched out the power supply with a third unit, this time a RocketFish from Best Buy 700w.

Dead Quite. - 100w less than the TAGAN!!!

Same apps, computer, and hardware. The only change was the PSU. So I went the TAGANs forum and starting asking questions. (Thread included: http://www.tagan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=418) They didnt seem to believe or care that their PSU was doing this and suggested switching out video cards, turning on/off Vsync or upgrading PSUs to a higher wattage version.

Wait a minute... their PSU purports to be SLI capable Nvidia ready, and it cant handle one video card without screaming uncle. Heaven forbid I put in a second card and/or a physicx card!! Why in the world would I buy another one of their products if they cannot get this one fixed!!!

My conclusion is that their product although good looking, is flawed... their support is lacking. I demand solutions from companies that represents the value of the product.

I would not recommend this product if you have a high end NVIDIA card.

Nothing OC'd yet.

Don't be too quick to judge based on one experience. There is always the chance that you got a defective unit, or it was damaged in transit.

On the other hand, if you can show me a long line of people with the same issue, then you have a good point.

any pics of your rig?

right now it seems you are up to something as you are posting this around the web -

Over the years we get 'fake posts' making claims and then saying brand x is better.... I see in the Tagan forums you said you returned the Tagan unit to newegg for replacement... The second one faulty also and then you said you are done with Tagan... I see Leo the admin over at Tagan doesn't believe you... do you have any audio recording or anything of the problem? Would get more people behind you if you did.

I've got a BZ700 and a BZ1100 and tested both with 8800GTX and haven't had a problem with mine. But it's a known issue and pretty well documented. I even ran the BZ1100 against 3 EVGA 8800GTX in triple sli and didn't get it.

Seems related to Vsync, some users report turning vsync off stops the noise.

Like I said though I tried every thing and 7 or 8 high end cards with nVidia standard reference designs, grounding, ungrounding, vsync on, vsync off, SLI, new drivers, old drivers, different games almost every thing I can think of and can't reproduce it.
