I want to do some watercooling

I'm looking to get rid of the fans in my system and do some watercooling. Money isn't really an object, but it has to be within reason. I'm pushing for something internal if possible.

My system:

CPU: Intel Q6600
GPU: eVGA 8800 GTX Superclocked
RAM: 4GB Mushkin PC8500
MB: Asus P5E
Case: CoolerMaster Cosmos (1st Gen)

I'm looking to cool both my CPU and GPU. I don't want a cooler for the GPU that has individual RAM-sinks. I'm looking for totally active cooling.

Right now I'm thinking about piecing something together with all Swiftech parts.

- Stealth VGA Waterblock
- APOGEE GTX CPU Waterblock
- MCP655 Series Pump (Might consider a chipset waterblock w/ this pump?)
- MCR220-QP Res Radiator (The one w/ the reservoir built in to the radiator)
- Planning on using 1/2" barbs for best flow

Any sort of bleeders??

Any other recommendations or does this look pretty sweet as-is? I've used the Swiftech CPU waterblock before and loved it. All metal construction is a huge plus in my books. I've had bad luck w/ blocks that have plastic construction.

I'm looking to order all my stuff so I can have it in time for Memorial Day week... so within about a week.

You don't need a chipset block, it just adds excess heat. That pump isn't that good, do some research over at XS, it'll tell you what the best of the best is

It looks good except for RAD ... with that rad (220mm), and Q6600 ocing + 8800 card ... temp will NOT so good.

-VGA block - good
-Pump - good - that's pump is great ... very strong ...
-APOGEE GTX CPU Waterblock - good
-MCR320 --- since you only choose Swiftech product ... else, take ThermalChill or BlackIce Extreme -- 320mm
-For reservoir ... I heard people said EK product is good......

If you gonna overclocking your Q6600 to .. let's say 3.6GHz, you might consider getting NB cooler (or chipset block if go with water all the way :D :D )

theres no way hes gonna be able to get a 3x120mm rad internal with out modding. seems good so for, look for a different pump. 2x120mm will be fine for you . as for the card cooling i would recomend a GPU block and then a seperate ram block, as it will be able to be used down the road. as for getting rid of your fans, you wont be able to. there are still hundreds of little things being cooled by air in your case and you also need ones on your rad. as long as your not looking for the most extreme system with the best temps around, what you have wiht what i said should do you good. and one last thing, if you dont mind going not all swifty look into a dtek fuzion cpu block. they get better temps then the apogees. and if you want to go all swifty, just go with an apogee gt unless you really like the looks of the gtx, it may be only a 1 c difference max

XS I would assume you're referring to XSReviews.co.uk? I probably won't even bother w/ a chipset block just for that reason though.

I agree w/ the 3x 120mm's statement below. Kinda overkill and I'm trying to keep it internal if possible. Not 100% my requirement, but it's up there on the list.

I shall definitely take a look into those other blocks. I don't have my heart set on Swiftech, but I've had good experiences with their products. As far as my fans, don't worry, I"m not that dumb! I just have 4x ThermalTake Speed Fan II's in there, and they're quite loud. Turning them down a notch would help a lot!

The pump is fine, works great and lasts a long long time, I'm still running my original MCP655 from when they were first released.

The radiator might be a little small with both the CPU and GPU in the same loop and overclocked, that's one heck of a heat dump into the system.

Either get the D-Tek or Swifty CPU block, but the D-Teks are currently getting better results with their nozzle kits last I read.

The Swifty GPU block os one of the best out there, I've also been running mine for years on several different cards.

If you plan on a second cooling loop for the GPU block, I have a MCP350 pump that will do the job well. Your watercooling will have two loops, and one reservoir to share from.

Hmmm.... so much to read over at XS. ugh! lol

I guess if I need to, I can try to find a way to mount the stuff on the outside of the case, but as-is, there isn't much room to attach anything. There is only 1 120mm fan on the rear, then you run into the inputs for audio and video.

Tempting to have 2 radiators, reservoirs, and pumps, one for both CPU and GPU... unless that's overkill. Reading over at XS, I'm seeing a lot of people using dual pumps.

I've notice more and more people running two cooling loops on the higher equipment machines.

It seems that once the quad-cores came out, a growing trend for this is happening. More people want that OC, but forget that the OC is now on four cores rather than one or two.

Safe to say, a single or dual core CPU with one graphics card GPU can still run the basic WCing loop without much trouble.

I've been digging around, reading as to what people have been doing w/ the Cosmos 1000, and it looks like I might need to do some mods to my case. I certainly won't have my parts in time for when I want, but I will probably start off ordering radiators so I know how I should mod my case.

My biggest question that I didn't catch yet, what's the target flow rate in a system?

Finally got my radiator. Gotta mod my case to make it fit, then order the rest of my parts. I picked up a Thermalchill 120.3. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I wanted quality parts. These things are extremely hard to come by too... I waited 2 weeks for an official reseller to have them in stock, and then another 2 weeks to receive it. FedEx sucks!
