NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Is 55nm - Sneaky NVIDIA

Just found out that the GeForce 9800 GTX+ is way more than an overclocked graphics card. It is still based off the 65nm GeForce core, but it's been shrunk and modified to run at 55nm.

As if there isn't enough confusion about nvidia's SKUs as it is

I can see why Nvidia have to do this though, as they aren't likely to make much money from the 200GTX's so they have to get a decent performing card at a good price point.

this is mainly a response to AMD/ATI's 4850 and 4870 being so cheap. for $229 it's not bad, and the regular 9800GTX will drop down to to $199.

Only thing is Nvidia said they were making a new number scheme that was less confusing. What the hell is this?

Certainly won't complain about the new prices, but the naming scheme... so much for all those 55nm G92b is 9900GTX rumors. Nobody saw this "+" thing coming, which almost makes me think the only reason it launched like it did is solely because of AMD's parts being too competitive...

Now if we can just get some $50 MIRs on these... Or have some 4870's available, this is getting interesting.

They could have probably named this the 9800 Ultra, OR the GTX 240
