XFX Offers GeForce GTX Early Adoptors Cash Back...

Postby Apoptosis » Tue Jul 15, 2008 1:08 pm

This is something you never hear of... A company wanting to give you money back for something you already bought. The price on the GeForce GTX 280 and GeForce GTX 260 have been slashed by over 35% and the crew over at XFX doesn't want their early adopters to eat the price drop as they care about their loyal customers. The have started a program to give you some money back if you bought one during the approved time period, which is between June 16, 2008 and July 11, 2008

If You’re an XFX GeForce® GTX 280 or GeForce® GTX 260 Owner

Being the first to do anything is a rewarding experience. And, now, if you were one of the first to purchase the XFX GeForce®GTX 280 or GeForce® GTX 260, there’s another potentialreward—cold hard cash.

Sudden changes in the market have caused the price for the XFX GeForce GTX 280 and the XFX GeForce GTX 260 to drop. As a result, we want to thank you for your loyalty and for believing in the XFX brand. To show our commitment to you, we are issuing up to $120 CASH back to customers who purchased
these cards between June 16, 2008 and July 11, 2008. The actual amount of cash back will be determined based on the model purchased, as well as the date and price of the purchase.

To see if you qualify for CASH BACK, please visit www.xfxforce.com/GTXCASHBACK

*Please note this offer is only valid in US and Canada

Good for XFX! I wish I could have afforded an XFX 8800gt when I got mine, they were a bit more than I wanted to pay at the time so I went with MSI. Next time it will be another XFX card (If I don't go crossfire).

XFX rocks, I've always been pleased with their products and customer support............. 8)

Now lets see if any of the other big Nvidia vendors start doing the same thing.

That is a smart business practice. Definitely helps build customer loyalty. It doesn't hurt that they have some smokin' products too. =D>

Gee, I wonder what the "sudden market changes" were? [-X

That said, this is exactly why I wish these companies didn't get tied to a specific GPU vendor. I would've waited for an EVGA or XfX 4870 because in dealing with those companies I just have a better "feel" for the support I will receive. The cards themselves (especially when new releases are all just reference designs with different stickers and packaging) don't vary much so the company support is critical.

I don't think we will see VisionTek, Powercolor, Diamond, or HIS doing something like this (not that those companies are bad, Visiontek has a lifetime warranty and all) and it should be a hint to AMD to look at their reseller channels a bit. When I was into ATI before I still liked the Nvidia resellers better and usually bought the actual ATI card but that's not happening anymore :(

One thing to note, while Apple did this with the iPhone it was only after a lot of complaining from those who waited in line to buy one and felt ripped off. I haven't seen a large amount of complaining about the GTX260/280 drops but these companies did it anyways, loyalty is earned :)

Put in for may rebate a couple of days ago. I should get back about 69 dollars. I paid 519.00 for it through newegg.com and now the price is like 449.99. I'm talking about this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150309
