Zen creative m vision deleted my music

my Zen creative m vision deleted half of my music yesterday and the same thing happened to someone else i know but i dont know what happened.
first it crashed then it was gone and it was my most recently listened to tracks and now it wont connect to my computer proplee
has this happened to someone else .
need help it driving me crazy without my music

Maybe the hard drive in it is going bad?
