If I am correct in thinking, most people in this country have a broadband connection speed of about 1.5 mb/s. I had one at about that speed until last night, when a 500 mb file downloaded in under 5 minutes. So, after I came home today, I ran speedtest, and this is what the test came out with:
I was getting more or less the same speeds when I was on Rogers Express (7MB down, 512KB up). Now I'm on Extreme (10MB down, 1MB up). Either something's up with Rogers, or these speed tests are faulty.

It's cus there's no competition. In Toronto, all we have are Rogers Cable and Bell DSL. We have smaller companies too, but they basically use either Rogers cable or Bell Sympatico lines.
Oh, and the upload speeds were limited by my router's QoS.
I am on Comcast in CT. They upgraded the upload speeds for customers here, so I assume they did it for your neck of the woods as well... it was a free upgrade (thus far anyway) I had 768 up but now have 2Mb up
