DDR3 question

Postby sbjlsmtj » Tue Feb 24, 2009 11:02 am

I think this is my last unknown question lol, or I hope so...in the new system I'm trying to build, I have a question about basic ram. On the i7 core, Asus MB...I'm going to go with the max 12 gig of Ram...here is my question...I can get 1333 XMS3 Dominator Corsair Ram or for the same price I can get 1600 Corsair Value Ram...which will be better performance? I know the 1333 is a bit slower by the number on papger (1333 compared to 1600) but wouldn't the Dominator outperform the 1600 value ram?

Thanks for any help.

I think 12mb of RAM is a waste of your money at this point- you would be fine with 6gb of RAM for awhile. I would get 6GB of 1600 high end RAM.

I have 6 GB of dominators in my i7 rig..Vista hasn't even used up to $30% of the ram yet..so I agree with smack on 12GB being a bit of a waste..In all honesty I was gonna go for 12GB myself but when Vista's fat ass can't even use over 30% of the ram yet on my rig, then you get to see that the money you save can get somethin else that would rule supreme..but if you're gonna go for 12GB then get the Dominators. ValueRam isn't bad but sucks compared to Dominators(Dom's look way better too)

well 12 gigs might be use full if your planning running window 7 via Windows VIRTUAL MACHINE but i think that still be to much (just my opinion).

but i would go with Dominators

I'm sorry but I run an Ubuntu VM, a windows 7 VM, and i have room for another 2 and i run 6GB of DDR2. 12 is severe overkill

Hi,All

DDR3 SDRAM or double-data-rate three synchronous dynamic random access memory is a random access memory interface technology used for high bandwidth storage of the working data of a computer or other digital electronic devices. DDR3 is part of the SDRAM family of technologies and is one of the many DRAM (dynamic random access memory) implementations.
