Need Recommendations: 120mm fan >90 CFM

Postby Att1cus » Sat Aug 15, 2009 5:09 am

Hey everyone - looking for some advice as I've been out of the air cooling sector for a while, but decided to return after a few issues with water cooling. I've just picked up the Cooler Master V10 heatsink:

I'd like to replace the 2 internal 120x120x25mm fans - preferably with blue, UV, or white lighting. The fans have to be 120x120x25 mm and move more than 90 CFM - I've been combing the usual sources, but none of my findings have truly impressed me yet.

Thanks for the help!

You know, I myself looked and looked and looked for blue led fans that could match the performance of the V10 ones and honestly there was only 1 model that I found that could fit the v10 and do as good..which were these (im sure you saw the link in the v10 review thread)

I'm waiting on a pair in blue myself...There was a 110CFM fan I saw in blue LED, but it needed a controller to run full speed. It apparently ran at low speed without one..not sure how much of a drop in temps one would get anyhow with it if it did fit..I personally haven't gone over 70C under full load ever since I got the beast..and in the hot desert I'm in, that's pretty darn good for the original fans..the only other fans I was personally able to find that were more than 90CFM were non-LED fans.

Well it looks like I found the only thing that's going to give me a true, noticeable difference in cooling on the V10, and is the right dimensions for it:

I haven't even found anything close to a 150CFM so far, so this seems to be the top dog. Only drawbacks are the noise of this and how often I'll need to clean out my V10 from all that air going through it. Let me know if you guys find anything comparable.

I'd think you need a high pressure fan to force the air between the fins better like the NF-P12. Yes the delta has both, but at an earsplitting noise level.

If you drop the pesky light requirement there is all kids of high CFM 120mm fans couple that stick out that are 25mm thick and wont make your ears bleed at full power.

SILVERSTONE FM121-B 110.03 CFM 17-39.5 dBA
COOLER MASTER Y720CCD-25K1-GP 110 CFM 16.5 - 38 dBA

If you go with the delta get a good fan control and dial the power WAY down, at the lower RPM you will still push more CFM at a higher pressure then the stock fan. Still going to be noisy as hell.

Nidec has always been a good 120mm fan for the server units in the financial service with very little down time.

You best bet is the V12E series. Not only will the CFM be of benefit, but the key is the static pressure rating too.

Keep the power rating under 1-Amp, else your electric and PSU will be suffering.

Take a look at the last two on the list.

i have two of those on my Hyper 212 and when overclocked to 3.3GHz 1.35v my 7750BE never gets over 50degC loaded and the fans are quite quiet at full speed
