Newbie trying to go for 1600 mhz

Postby MagicalMushroom » Wed Aug 19, 2009 5:29 am

Ok so I'm basically a complete newbie to the computer BIOS. But my DRAM frequency is set to 530.7 Mhz butI'm pretty sure thats not right when I'm using Corsair Dominator 6gb DDR3...
How do I get the frequency up to the frequency the RAM is designed for? Isnt it 1600? Also Heres a link to my RAM so you all can see the specs.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145224&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

But in all this BIOS adjusting I don't want to OC my cpu.

Here are my complete system specs:

Corsair HX1000W
Intel Core i7 920 @ stock (2.67 ghz)
GTX 285 FTW

Go into the bios. use the XMP profile setting in the bios. if it doesn't automatically set you to 1600, you can set it manually...using the XMP profile will allow you to set the ram speed without messing with the cpu speed.

Honestly I just set the XMP, put it to 1600 and I let it go..i never touched the vdroop..and IMO I doubt you would see much difference changing the timings..especially with this kit..anything you don't knwo about you might want to leave alone lol..(regarding the vdroop)

EDIT: I'm either blind or something but i couldnt find the vdroop on my board..regardless, I never touched it and it's worked flawless for me

Nevermind... got it but the results werent what i expected. The Dram frequency is now 796 mhz. The NB frequency is 3184 mhz. and the cycle time jumped from 19 to 24. I feel like something went wrong...
