How Much Should I Sell For?

Postby dgood » Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:19 pm

I have two computers I am not using, and since I'll be graduating it'll be time to get rid of some hardware before I move. Both are Amd 64 computers pretty old. one 754 single core and a 939 dual core machine.

Computer 1:
Amd 64 3800+ x2 939
1gb DDR 400 Dual Channel
80 gb Sata 7200 rpm hd
256 MB Ati x1600xt
Asus A8S-X *
Netgear Wireless Card
CDRW/DVD Combo
Thermaltake PurePower 480W Psu
Windows XP
*Works fine, but the motherboard has an issue of overclocked failed error, so when it starts you have to press f2 to reset defaults (haven't figured out how or if I can fix it yet)

Computer 2:
Amd 64 3700+ 754
1gb DDR 400 Dual Channel
160 gb IDE 7200 rpm hd
512 MB nvidia 7600gs agp
Asu K8V-MX (micro atx)
CDRW/DVD Combo
Dlink wda-1320 wireless g adapter
Antec SmartPower 2.0 450W psu
Windows XP

Other Info:
I have a restore to a fresh installation for each of the computers, but I do not have the disks anymore or keys for windows so they would have to take them as is. Both are atx mid tower cases

very tough call...

Try Craigs list for $150-$200 and see what happens I would say. Without Windows keys I'd say you are looking in the $125-$150 range though.

I think Apop is pretty much on the money. Maybe a bit less for the second one since its not a dual core.

I might have one windows xp key how much of a difference would that make?
Ok I understood what Apop wrote already. As for the motherboard issue? that why you listed them at the same price?
Also would I be better off selling them in parts?

Selling in parts is a huge hastle with shipping to multiple people and for the parts you're selling you wouldn't realize much more profit.
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

problem is whole system sell slower, and by the time u sold it the price will be much much lower due to all the "newer" parts came out and price drop, so i suggest sell them by parts so u move the merchandises faster and the earlier u get money the better

personally I'd try selling them whole first and then part them out.

that doesn't work so well with older systems, everything listed is outdated already, a lot of college age kids don't really care whats in it as long as it runs...

The AMD 64 3700+ is the San Diego single core. It's one of the very last socket 754's that sold retail with great reviews for OC'ing up to 2.6Ghz on the stock cooler.

If someone want an older computer in this socket size, this would be the one to go after.

With laptop deals hitting the scene and the portability to hot spots, it's hard to even give away desktop computers yet alone set a price for them hoping to recoup anything.

As Nate pointed out, Craigs list is your best bet if you live in an area that is covered well by one.

Thanks Guys for information on pricing I have sold one of the two locally on craigslist for $150. I'm still hoping the second sells too. It would be quite nice to have some extra cash and be rid of some computers I'm not using anymore.
