Processor difference??

Postby AlpineKid » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:52 am

What is the difference between -
AMD Phenom™ X4 Quad-Core 9650, 2.3GHz, 2MB
AMD Athlon™ II X4 620 (2.6GHz, 2MB)??

Thank you for the help.

I would like to find out by Monday AM.

well first of all you don't want a regular Phenom X4, you'd want a Phenom II X4, the original Phenom's have a bunch of bugs and aren't a good architecture compared to the newer line

of those two options alone, the Athlon II X4 is a much better choice(i assume you only listed those two as you want essentially a good Quadcore CPU for as little $$ as possible) but if you want to drop $50 more you can get the really Solid Phenom II X4 925 that has 6MB of L3 Cache(the above listed don't have ANY L3 Cache) but the Athlon isn't bad for how much it costs either.

Thank you for the fast reply.
These are the 2 choices that I have for a DELL Inspiron 546 that I am looking at buying.
I am limited on money and need 2 machines. I have old DELL machines with XP & XP Pro on them.
I wish I could go with the better CPU now. But maybe in the future.

Thnk you for the help.
