EN 7600GS VIDEO CARD

Hi all new on this forum so hope you can help.
My problem is i have a Asus EN 7600GS 256mb graphic card and i find that every time i install a new driver or any nvida driver it shows i got over 1gb or memory instead of the 256 that it is ,i find out this by going into dxdiag in run,so want to find out whats going on my system specs are.

motherboard is Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI
CPU- AMD Athlon tm 64 3700+
RAM - 4GB DDR 400
VIDEO CARD - ASUS EN 7600GS - 256MB
OS - VISTA ULTIMATE X 64 BIT :supz:

ok just done that but that just tells me information i all ready know about the card.

Post the screenshot, my gut says it has uses system memory as its a lower end core in the Nvidia Family

my mates got a an ati hd3000 series and it is 256 but reads 512mb in dxdiag. i told him to run gpu-z and it tells him the same thing. to test it i told him to run 3dmark 06 and that should tell you how much better it is or run gta4 go into the graphics setting and see what your system resource limit is and true enough it said 486mb out of 512 he has. he got a bargin lol.

do the same if you can and report back telling us what you see and got!

GPU-Z shows 256MB of RAM so whats the problem.

ok think i got it let see so my video is 256mb but if i play higher games it can steal some of my system memory to play the game is that right. if it is does that mean my sysytem will still use the actual 4gb ram i got in it when im not playing games.

Correct, it only uses it if and when it needs to.

ok Thanks for all your help just didnt want 2gb of ram dissapearing to my video card and not getting used on my system at all thats all , many thanks.
