Liquid coolants an advantage?

Postby sligdude » Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:36 am

I've looked about for liquid coolant video cards. I've only found a select few among the ATI market. This might be a stupid question, but If liquid nitrogen and "vapour-x cambers" are so fantastic, why don't all cards incorporate some form of similar coolant in their system?

hi sligdude, the reason they dont use liquid nitrogen or anything similar is due to the cost and the fact that it's dangerous. it would at least double the cost of the card that has that kind of cooling and would make it very razardous. liquid nitrogen is not something you can just pick up when ever you need it, you need to have a lisence for it.

The second reason would be cost. There are only a select few people who care about the temperature at which their cards run at. For most people, the price (compared to the same cards of that model) is all they care about.

Over the years a few off-the-shelf for certain Nvidia and ATI cards had existed for several series. Danger Den always took a leading role with regular liquid cooling. The complexity of space is a real limiting factor for liquid cooling graphic cards.
