ATI + nVidia for PhysX

Postby smack323 » Wed Nov 18, 2009 7:47 pm

Is it possible to use a nVidia card as a secondary card to add physX to a system running an ATI as the main GPU? what is the best way to do this? Do you just install drivers for both cards? Do you need to enable it somehow?

I searched for the answer a couple of months ago. I found that ATI+nVIDIA Physx can run only on XP and Win 7 with modded drivers. Here are what I find now.
its works, but the problem is, is not detected by the nvidia demos.

Just install your ati card as normal, then install your nvidia drivers as well physx drivers, then go to display settings, use "detect displays" button, then select one grey monitor in you nvidia card and use the "extend desktop to this monitor" and apply... (no need for a real 2nd monitor), then go to the nvidia control panel, and select "Hardware Physx" Enabled... thats it...

CUDA programs like badaboom, will work, Physx well be working in hardware mode, but still not detected by nvidia demos and the physx control pnel will keep saying "disabled" instead of "geforce physx" but it does WORK, just test it.

I made it working using my 8300 igp for physx... but is just or testing haha, the 8300 cant do anything good enough...
from Another forum.

I found a link where all the infos are provided with the necessary drivers and a guide. Its another site so I don't know how the Admins will react with this link. But its really help full. I hope Apoptosis or any of the Admins can host the files and provide a guide in (our beloved forum) legit reviews.

Good luck and let the other people know what you get from your experiment.
