ATI Radeon HD 5970 CrossFireX Won't Enable?

I managed to get my hands on a pair of Radeon HD 5970 graphics cards and am trying to pair them together for CrossFireX, but am not having any luck.

I am using the 8.663.1_Beta5_Hemlock_VistaWin7_Nov11.exe video card drivers, which are the most recent on the press and public download sites - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/pa ... -5970.aspx

I can install the drivers and device manager shows four video cards enabled with the correct 11/11/2009 drivers, but the option to do CrossFire just isn't there. If you look inside CCC under the information center it shows the secondary card as being disabled, but there is no way to enable it... The system is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit. Any ideas?

Nate, found this http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=260&threadid=123032&enterthread=y It look like people are having all kinds of problem with the 5970, that like is just one of some I found.
