OCZ designed the Vertex 2 solid-state drive to surpass the competition when it comes to performance by using the SandForce SF-1200 series controller and the best firmware revisions possible. With native TRIM support and featuring 285MB/s read speeds with 275MB/s write speeds you can say that OCZ is off to a good start. Read on to see how the Vertex 2 performs against nine other drives!
I agree with you and it's nice to see the SandForce controller firmware mature... I first reviewed the Vertex 2 Pro then the Vertex LE and now the Vertex 2.... It's slowly gotten better!

I made this chart up just now to highlight the performance of 4k write IOPS only... I mean take a look at the Toshiba HG2 256GB SSD it gets really bad results on this benchmark the way I have the queue depth set... 39 IOPS is all it gets... The Vertex 2 gets 25,274! Then to see that OCZ has gotten nearly 1500 IOPS between the two SF-1500 controller drives by firmware updates only is amazing... These are solid performing drives!
