Formulas used for calculations.

Postby ziggy1971 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:14 am

On this page http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1615/7/ there are several calculations used to derive the % difference between benchmarks and I was curious what the formulas are to calulate the differences.

Another example is at http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68V_PRO/ specifically the USB 3.0 Boost section.

This is my own example (not from the websites noted above)

For instance:
If one PC setup (x, for the sake of argument), performed a benchmark in 3 minutes, 32 seconds and the second PC (y) performed the same benchmark in 1 minute, 51 seconds, what is the performance increase in %? How would it be calculated given that the PC (y) has a smaller value (@ 111 seconds) than PC (x) (212 seconds).

I see stats similar to this on various benchmark or product review sites, such as this one, but I have yet to find one that reveals how they calculated the results.

Please bear with me, my math is a little rusty these days (old in plain english).

Any advice/help is greatly appreciated,
Thanx in advance,

In your example divide 212 by 111 and that's your performance gain. 212/111=1.909 or 191%. As far as the video card numbers they are just what is generated by the benchmark, no calculations (well except the average frames per second).
