OCZ Vector 256GB Indilinx Barefoot 3 SSD Review

Nearly two years ago, OCZ purchased Indilinx and ever since we've waited to see the fruits of that investment. That time is here. The Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller graces the innards Vector Series SSDs for which OCZ, now under new leadership, promises to deliver with a renewed focus on quality and reliability in addition to extreme performance. Will the Vector deliver or is has the Indilinx purchase been largely a bust? See what we found out in our latest SSD review.


While we've only had the Vector 256GB drive with the Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller for a short time, we are very impressed with what OCZ has done. While 550MB/s reads and 530MB/s writes doesn't break new ground with a number of drives on the market that match these specifications, the trick is to hit these throughputs, or close to it, consistently. We know that the SandForce controllers really take a performance hit on incompressible data but not so with the Barefoot 3...
