To make the Strider Gold power supplies even better, SilverStone replaced the fan with SilverStone’s own Air Penetrator and various components were replaced with newer versions for a small boost in efficiency and performance. Thanks to the fan and component upgrades, Silverstone came out with the the Strider Gold Evolution series. This series ranges from 750W to 1200W with 80 PLUS Gold level efficiency, ±3% voltage regulation, ±3% ripple & noise, and high amperage single +12V rail as its main features. ]Enthusiasts have come to expect high quality products from Silverstone and the ST75F-G is no exception. Even though the base design of this power supply is old, Enhance did a very good job upgrading its performance to modern standards and for a fully modular design. There are quirks, such as the tight placement of components and cables beneath and around the very large heatsinks, but the ST75F-G is very solidly made and the components used are of great quality as well.

Most PC components are going down in price, but power supplies seem to be the exception. Is this a demand issue (people want more efficient units) or a supply issue (the internal parts are more expensive so it's passed on to the end user)?

1) People are willing to pay more
2) many companies need profit good profit margins to stay afloat and PSUs are currently the bread and butter for many companies.
