HSINCHU, Taiwan – January 07, 2013 –Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (Taiwan Stock Exchange: 2379.TW), one of the world’s leading network and multimedia IC providers, will be demonstrating a full range of connectivity and multimedia solutions during 2013 CES. Demonstrations include:
Realtek IEEE 802.11ac Solutions
Next generation Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.11ac, offers three times the speed and 1.4 times the coverage of current 802.11n technology. With the higher transmission speed and wider coverage, 802.11ac greatly improves the wireless user experience, easily handling large file wireless transfers and enabling simultaneous playback of multiple high-definition video streams throughout the home.
The Realtek 802.11ac product line includes 1T1R and 2T2R configurations provided in various host interfaces, e.g., PCIe/USB/SDIO/HSIC. Our IEEE 802.11ac 2x2 USB3.0 dongle is ideal for upgrading an existing device to take advantage of 802.11ac speed benefits, and is currently the only USB dongle to provide a USB3.0 interface. The transmission speed is no longer constrained by USB2.0 throughput limitations, allowing the higher throughput provided by 802.11ac to fully meet advanced multimedia demands. Realtek will also demonstrate a 2x2 802.11ac AP/Router platform solution and a 1x1 802.11ac tiny dongle solution.
For embedded system applications that need dual-band solutions, we will be showing the world’s first APoC (AP on Chip) to integrate a 1x1 802.11ac RF and SoC into one SoC (12x12mm).
RealShare Smart Display
RealShare Smart Display (RTD1185/RTL8192DU; Digital Media Processor + Wi-Fi module), has achieved Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance.
Certification confirms full compliance of RealShare Smart Display with the new Wi-Fi Alliance Display Specification, which is built to connect mobile devices such as notebook PCs, tablet PCs, or Smartphones to larger display devices or TVs. Realtek’s RealShare Smart Display is an exciting step forward that allows easy expansion of a small screen device into a full-scale multimedia and entertainment center for the whole family to enjoy.
As well as offering Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ certification, RealShare Smart Display builds-in a comprehensive selection of wireless display technologies, including WiDi (Intel), DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), AirFun (Realtek Proprietary), and UIBC (Miracast) that allow users at the display side to easily control the source side content wirelessly via a mouse, keyboard, or touch panel.
4K x 2K Ultra High Definition TV
Realtek’s 4K x 2K (3840 x 2160) Ultra High Definition TV offers a high resolution and a larger viewing angle, and resolves the problem of overly large pixels causing loss of picture clarity on larger TV screens. The new UHD (Ultra High Definition) TVs offer extremely high video resolutions that go far beyond today’s 1080p systems, and offer a far clearer picture quality.
Realtek TV Controller Features:
• Lossless decoding, Ultra High Definition (UHD) image processing, and lossless output to the screen-side
• Direct play UHD content via USBConnect
• Direct input UHD content via HDMI 1.4a with image adjustment capability
• Highly integrated UHD single-chip reduces system costs
“Realtek wireless media solutions open a new chapter in home entertainment, enabling users to wirelessly enjoy streaming content from the Internet, and stored movies, music, and photos from their computers, on their TV, in stunning full high definition with vibrant crystal clear sound”, said Realtek’s Executive Vice President Jessy Chen. “Our multimedia and WLAN IC solutions break the restrictions imposed by wired multimedia content delivery, and fulfill the desire of consumers for multiple sources of easily accessed multimedia content from anywhere and to anywhere within the digital home”.
