I tried a 2.4Ghz Celery straight 400 chip. could be D spec, wanting to still try my mobile P4 1.6 CPU in this Mobo , do you maybe think its cos its only a 400 chip? that it runs @ 266?

yep....

I think you can set 333 in the bios too....i can't remember, I ran the same kinda setup for a folding rig last year, but I set the ram to 266 and overclocked to 400 - 2.4GHz to 3.6GHz

Used a zalman CNPS7700-Cu HSF, Asus P4P800dlx mobo (865 chipset like yours).....

The cpu only needed .1v extra to clock to 3.6 and could do 3.4 with default voltage (1.375v) 8)
I ended up killing it :(

Oh, noooo I know all too well how that feels :( killed a 1,8mhz P4 514k Mobo chip in a similar fashion playing with voltage mods, Oh well.... next project coming up is 1.7mhz Celeron 128k 400 that comes without the pesky speedstep technology.
