IS THIS GOING TO WORK

as a general rule of thumb, will RAM i use with my P4 system work on an upgraded AMD system?

MOST of the new Intel LGA775 systems use DDR2 memory, so if you are running a pinless CPU you might have DDR2. If you have DDR2 then you wont be able to use that for an AMD right now. Otherwise if you have an older (2+ year) Intel system the memory will work fine on an AMD system as long as it's rated PC-3200 (400MHz) or higher.
