dual channel slot question

Ok i have a total of 4 sticks, each set of a differant kind. Meaning 2x corair type1 and 2x corsair type2.

I want to be able to seperate my xmspro w/led for cooling but my dual channels are right next to each other. Can i take one pair and put it with another and still have the same performance?

i.e.

0000 - channels
1212 - ram type 1 and type 2 what i want to do for cooling
1122 - is how it is right now

get it?

i believe you are suppose to put them in 1212 order. atleast that is how i understood it when i read my user manual for my abit IS7...

kinda like in this picture. type 1 in the yellow, and type 2 in the black.

yeah that is what i like, but dont have, that is why i was wondering. My XMSPRO are quite big compared to my other sticks and would like them to be a little more cooled.

to be honest, the amount of cooling those sticks of RAM are gonna get is going to negligable IMO... unless youve got a fan directly over them....

You MUST put the paired sticks in each dual channel slot that they are meant to go in. So in this case, one XMSP must go in one of the yellow or black ones and the other has to go into its second counterpart.

i have no idea how i double posted..... LOL probably couldnt do it again if i tried.

ok, yeah it was just one of those things. Well also i just wanted to seperate the leds so they arent right next to each other.

It really depends on your board. If you want to run them in Dual-Channel you may either put them as 1122 or 1212, but verify that the ones from the same model are "sitting" in the mem. slots with the same color, accordingly.

mixing Ram types will work, but lower your chances of overclocking (the ram)
4x sticks will run with 2T timing and also the board will default to the timings on your slowest stick.
running 2GB will give better performance than 1GB with low latency and or high MHz.............

You should get a low rpm fan blowing accross your ram/mobo
