October 2006 Forum Contest - Folding For ATI Radeon GPU's

Eh, I fold for Maximum PC, and I don't really need a new graphics card ATM (see sig) even though I have an Opty 170 @ 2.6, a Core Duo @ 1.73 and a HT P4 @ 3.4...potentially adding another P4 @ 3.0 w/HT... I'm still folding for a cure though! That's what counts to me. I also couldn't afford to build another folding system around the card anyhow, give it to someone who'd use it.

Try WinCLK too, to change speeds. less screwing around, IMHO. Only works w/ 6.5 and 6.10 properly i have found.

UID is cadaveca, BTW. I doubt I'll join in...jsut wanted people to get an idea as to what may happen. Those with x1900's already will win the race. PEROID. not a fair contest, IMHO.

CATALYST 6.10's have been re-worked and re-launched as of today, so if someone wants to try them out and let us know please do.

Done. and the conroe does not compare to a gpu. those with Conroe and an x1900 will win. fastest crunching to be had ATM, no questions(gpu client still uses a cpu). If i had the cash, I'd gladly match you one-on-one conroe to gpu. 10 systems with conroe, 5 with GPu's, 5 without...which one ya think is faster?

well seeing on some work units conroe can avg 1000+ppd, I beg to differ. But your right a conroe and a gpu would be incredible.

because he's chicken. Can't handle the the pressure a small team brings. Can't hide like with the mamooth amount of users at Maximum.

didnt see this yet, this little tracker was posted awhile back in the Folding section. Thought I would post it here for the ones going to run the console version.

Are you using the console version?
If so, pick this little piece of software here http://fahmon.silent-blade.org/
It's called FahMon and it will give you information about the WU you're working on, like status, points, ETA, etc.



If you need help configuring it, just shoot a question

I'm in! I dl'ed the program, signed up under team 38296 and I guess it's working properly. How long does it take before you start to build up a score?

once the first work unit completes the F@H client will send it in and the points will the be posted on the F@H stat sites under your name!

I took this thought to heart and that is why the grand prized is based off points per CPU and not the total number of points!

For example...

If I have 5 CPU's and fold 50,000 points this month that would equal 10,000 points per CPU.

If another person had 1 CPU and folded 10,200 points for the month they would win the grand prize as it's points per processor.

Like Dicecca112 said this is biased to the small guy for the grand prize, but I did it that way so individuals like you would want to fold! The person with the most points period will walk away with the X1900XT 256MB graphics card and yes, that will likely go to someone with a folding farm or a ton of friends.

Without this great example I wasn't even gonna give an attempt.
