Postby Apoptosis » Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:21 am

Last week LR brought you launch day coverage of AMD's Quad FX platform and today we take a closer look at overclocking this beast. With an updated BIOS and improved cooling we aim to beat our previous 200MHz overclock and get well over 3.2GHz on our test system. If you are intrested in seeing how AMD's fastest computer platform does when it comes to overclocking this article is a must read!

Although it is far from orthodox and practical I took the system outside and onto the patio for the rest of the time I spent overclocking it. St. Louis just had a huge ice storm and with about 3 inches of clear ice on the patio and plenty of snow I figured the nice below freezing temperatures would be the best way to cool AMD's Quad FX platform.

Nate just don't hurt yourself the last we need is a broken ankle, electrocution, etc.

haha I just noticed my parents have the same patio furniture. If they caught me putting anything like that on it, I'd be killed, on the spot

I've often thought about OCing outside. In the 20' weather it would have worked well.

Thats right I forgot about the whole needing BFG WC 8800GTX's thing.
On the upside you can now buy the blocks at the Danger Den site just in case you have the dough/connections to buy 4 blocks and two more 8800GTX's lol.
