First build: recomend me some memory for Bad AXe 2

Hello Folks,

I need some memory suggestions for my first build. I'm building a Core 2 Duo (E660 or E6700) crossfire gaming machine and considering putting in a bad axe 2 board (my second choice being asus P5W DH). I plan to do some moderate amount of overclocking so i'm looking for some DDR2-800 RAM that will work well with his board. I've done some looking around myself, apparently this board supports 1.8v - 1.9v memory, and here's a few 2 GB dual module kits i've been looking at:

Mushkin 2 GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit 5-5-5-12 1.8v, part#996527, $235 at newegg, curently out of stock

OCZ 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit ATI CrossFire Certified 4-4-4-15 1.9v-2.1v, part#OCZ2A8002GK, $215 at newegg after rebate

Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit 5-5-5-15, 2.0v, part#KHX6400D2K2/2G, $243 at newegg

The kingston memory is 2.0v but according to their site is compatible with
bad axe 2. I'm willing to spend no more than $300-$330 on RAM. I'm looking for something thats good quality with some overclocking potential. I'm especially eager to hear from the owners of this board, what are you using? will any of these work? what do you recomend? I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

I am also in the process of building a new system with the D975XBX2 & E6600 I still need to purchase memory, PSU & Video card., Ive been doing alot of research and made my decision to get this memory kit.

It all depends on your budget and what timings you would like to run. The OCZ kit you have listed has the best timings and the lowest price. That would be my choice hands down!

Thanks for your replies. I was looking at the RAM mojaveron suggested, it is still with in my price range, and it looks very good. How is this working out for you? Good overclocker?

To answer Apoptosis' question: the price range is listed in my original post, which is no more than round $330 plus or minus a few bucks. Also in regards to the timings, i'm still pretty new at his, since its my first build an all, i dont know what timings i need. Like i said i'm looking to do some moderate OCing and i want good gaming performance. The OCZ RAM you suggested has timings 4-4-4-15, so that is something i should be looking for?

Also while browsing at newgg i found these 2 gb Corsair modules:

They have timings of 5-5-5-12, and cost alomost the same as the Mushkin RAM recomended by mojaveron.

All of these modules seem to be compatible with the mobo so what do you think, which ones will be better for my purposes regardless of price Mushkin, OCZ, or Corsair?

Yep, these are the only modules that use Microns out of everything i've been looking at so far.

this is the hottest deal on ram in a very long time, 2 x 1GB d9gmh for $189.

also buffalo is an amazing company with amazing customer support. i am not guaranteeing you that they are d9gmh but it is 99.99999% chance, but it is not 100% guaranteed on those mushkins either and they are double the price.

everyone has gotten D9s so far except one batch many months ago when they ran out of D9 and put elpida.

i got 2 x 1GB D9GKX sticks PC2 8000 and 2 x 512MB D9GKX PC2 8500 from them. they are beautiful, they ship fast, come with little extras too.

I am using the Corsair and am pleased with the performance and quality. Currently running 4-4-4-12 @ 2.12v with no problems. Newegg price was good along with rebate. I've had it as fast as 493mhz (986) no problems.
