No Audio on ABIT NF-7S

Postby camaroguy1998 » Sat Feb 23, 2008 3:45 pm

I was doing some rearrangements yesterday and moved an ABIT NF-7S system from one case to another and when I fired it up I lost my audio. When I try to access any program that uses the audio it gives me an error. Audio hardware not found, check drivers and try again. I loaded the original drivers and that did not work and then I loaded the newest drivers from ABIT and that didnt work either.
Everything worked fine before the case change :(
Anyone have any idea what may have happened?

I had issues with that board a long time ago. It seemed to change bios settings on it's own.
You should double check the sound card is still enabled in the bios.

Part of the error message says "This system has no audio capabilities"

I'll do that! Thanks Ken!

No luck. Audio is not listed anywhere in the BIOS, its like it doesnt and/or didnt exist.

Did you try a Bios Reset? I'd try resetting bios at default bios on board sound should be enabled. If you don't see it after the reset maybe a bios flash. I've seen boards reset bios options by accidentally shorting two solder points on the bottom of the board during case moves. In rare cases I've seen it corrupt bios slightly.

I've never seen the audio option blown completely out of bios even if the device was bad so you might be on new ground here.

Being an old system with minimal usage(web surfing and internet radio) I didnt really want to spend a lot of time on it.
So I pulled out an old SB Live and installed it. That worked for now.
When I have more time I will try and flash the BIOS and see what happens.

I do that with some boards, most times customers just want repairs the cheapest way possible. If a bios reset doesn't do it I stick in a sound card and let them out the door with it.
