best way to cool a evga 780i?

Postby XstollieX » Wed Jun 11, 2008 5:28 pm

Just ordered an evga 780i from newegg. I know it runs hot so i am gonna put it under water. Anyone know what blocks will fit the nb and maybe the sb?

Thanks,
Stollie

Might want to check this thread out...

Air cooling does pretty good on this chipset.

The issue i have with aircooling the chipset is that (from the pics of the board I'll recieve it from egg tommorrow) it blows the heat onto the gfx card. Not real wild about adding the heat to the gfx

its kinda hard to cool this, because there are two chips being cooled by that cooler, the north bridge and the three way sli bridge chip. then you have to buy a new cooler for you southbridge and pwn etc unless your like me, and go gehto :finga: post112120.html#p112120

Hmm well this sounds like its gonna be fun! Time to break out the machine shop and do a bit of engineering 8) . Hmm pure copper base with a stainless steel top should be kind of sharp. Guess I have a project for next week :)

Found a block for this board from ek. I think im just gonna use it. Ill prolly still build a mosfet block though; or see if microcenter has anything in stock that will work. For the sb i picked up a vantec iceberq 4 holes are in the right spot but the base may need a bit of modding to fit. Nothin a sawzall and air hammer can't fix 8)

work well on the sb? I left the board at my shop so i intentionally wouldn't install it with out all the right parts so i can't do a test fit yet
