Steam + Crysis Warhead = RRRGGH!

A place to rant and rave about all the current gaming titles!

Steam + Crysis Warhead = RRRGGH!

Postby Sovereign » Fri Sep 19, 2008 12:42 pm

Why oh why does Steam keep showing Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars at "100% - Ready" then when I try to play them it switches to "Updating - 0%" and never seems to finish updating? What the hell is going on? No, there are no Steam client updates available (I checked).

I got this last night and had my own woes. It refused to verify the release date, though all I had to do is go to the EA website and download the working EXE file.

It is better optimized, but still will be hard on the old videocard!

Argh I wish I could borrow my friend's DVD and use that to install... It would be faster that way :(

On my quad core rig in my signature (with 4GB ram, not 2... I need to update that) I am getting around 20-30 FPS when things get busy. It still plays ok at 20 fps, but you can't tell you're at only 30fps when you are there. I don't know why some games are unplayable at 30 fps, and others are awesome.

Settings are all ultra (enthusiast) except shadows, which are on high, and Textures are on medium. This is at 1280x800.

It seems to run a bit better than the first one atleast.

I had a bit of background things running, like Razer drivers and such.

I had it running all high on 1600x1050 with 20fps or so. I didn't like this, so I knocked it down in res and bumped up the candy.

i managed to get 20fps at 1600 x 1200(high), but I had to OC my 9600GT 100MHz and my cpu .8GHz, i prefer more pixels over more candy. never tried warhead yet, looking forward to it.

I will try out this 9600GT and see how it fares with Crysis. I assume that with 1gb of ram a card will do much better in the high resolution area than 512, but I will have to find out what the limitations are in other areas.

This is factory overclocked to 700, I bet I could push it higher though.
