Will a GeForce 8800GTX be good with a Dell 3007 WFP-HC

Hi All

I just pulled the trigger on a Refurbished Dell 3007wfp-hc monitor & would like to know if my current graphics card (see my sig) is powerful enough to run said monitor.

All help provided is greatly appreciated. My thanks to all who respond

I am assuming you will be gaming at 1920 x 1080? For the most part you will be fine with that card. some games you might need to dial back the graphic settings a bit.. I have a 9800 GTX i run at 1920 x 1080 on a 55" screen and so far i have been able to play most games on high settings with no noticable lag to me.

Thanks for the reply Smack. I've been gaming very comfortablely with my GeForce 8800GTX & Sharp LC-32GP1U. I hope that I'll be able to do so on the 30" Dell monitor.

ahh i looked up your old monitor not the new dell- i see that supports 2560x1600 - you will probally have some problems if you game at those settings. but you can alwas keep your settings at 1920x1080 and you will get the same performance as your current monitor... do you mind me asking how much it cost you?

i also noticed that monitor has a 12ms response time. you are ging to get lag like effects regaurdles of your video card.

The Dell was $799.00 @ the Dell outlet. Also if I'm not mistaken It's the Dell 3008 that has significant input lag.

I'm surprised Dell actually released a monitor with 12 ms...my last Dell monitor had 5 ms..and that was nearly 4 years ago..either way with a 8800gtx you wont be gaming at 2560x1600. just won't happen very well at all. you can play at 1920x1200..but even that will chug a tad depending on the game..kind of bugs me that monitor only has 12 ms(actually when i looked at the price it showed 8ms on 3007wfp-hc and 3008wfp but that's still slow either way).....that's shifty for the money they charge on that screen IMO..its good you got a nice deal an all, but I feel the money could've been spent on a better monitor..just my opinion. I don't hate Dell monitors, I just don't think they're worth the money they charge after owning one..hope it works out good for ya though..the sheer size alone will bring happiness to ya when gaming or watching a movie..as long as that response time keeps up of course

honestly if i were you i'd return that monitor - you are going to hate the 12ms response time on it.
i found this 27.5" monitor on newegg for $360 it has a 3ms response time. and free shipping and its brand new, not refurb so your going to have a longer warranty. use the money you save to buy a new video card.

Yea my model of Hanns-G sells for that much and same specs..Not sure if that's the one you were referring to ..great monitor..great service from the company..and not $1000 I got a bad one at first, but with in a week and a half of sending it in, I had a new one waiting for me at home and has been a blessing ever since..That's SERVICE...They won't do you wrong that's for sure

It is BIG and does take some getting used to, but once settled (which doesn't take long believe me), you will not go back to a smaller size. my ol Dell 20 inch is a midget..even 24 inch looks small after you get used to it ..plus if you watch blu-ray or anything HD its sweet..DVD's well, you will be able to tell the low res they use but its not bad at all(depends on the video software you use too).. i do wish the HG281D had heigth adjustment though..I think they charge a lil more for the height adjustable one on Newegg..not that one would need it with this size lol
