Not bad looking... Seems core i5 is going to take some sales away from core i7!!

Intel to Cannibalize Core i7 920 / 940
Prepare to bid farewell to the $400 Core i7 upgrade dream. Chip major Intel is reportedly planning to discontinue some of the relatively affordable Core i7 processors, including the most commercially successful model, the 920. Cannibalizing the Core i7 920 and 940, will create market headroom for the company's upcoming Core i5 "Lynnfield" processors. Internal analysis reportedly show that the high-end Lynnfield processors perform too close to the lower models of Core i7, and that could potentially affect sales of those high-end Core i5 chips. Perhaps Intel is trying to oil the segment to make the most profits. Sources at motherboard manufacturers tell that the companies are already working on adjusting their X58 product lines to cater to the future lines of Core i7 processors, which, may start with the $649 Core i7 950 and beyond. What's more, 950 is expected to get the axe later down the line. It may have certainly been a good couple of quarters for you, saving for triple channel memory, true dual PCI-E x16 motherboards, and the elusive Core i7 920. You may want to execute your plans now, or change them.

This is exactly why it is smart to hold off on new technology. Not only do the prices stabilize, but you can avoid getting caught in traps like this.

Somewhere in another thread, someone said that socket 775 is dead...not by a long shot. The vast majority of my clients still have socket 775 PC's. I'll stick with LGA775 for a while longer.

This is why AMD still has a niche in the market. Phenom II just makes sense when looking at benchmarks and price discrepancies.

I've been wanting (and waiting) to build a Core 7 system to replace the one in my signature but it sounds like I'm going to be waiting for something AFTER Core 5 with the news about the prices. I try not to buy the latest and greatest when it's first released, last time I did it was a 4800X2 (paid way too much for it) so I usually wait 3-6 months but I just don't see the Core 7 upgrade (mobo, ram etc...) as being in my budget right now.

Your rig is already a strong setup, I'm sure you'd be better off just buying a new GPU instead of going i7/i5

4870's are cheap now. I picked up a PowerColor 4870 1G for about $190 a while back.
