The phenom II chip is a whole lot better chip than the original Phenom. Plus it has a dedicated gfx card

The second build, but I'd recommend NOT going Biosuck/Biostar. I work at a computer store and we do. not. install. them.
I know people have good experiences with just about all brands, but spend a little bit more on an ASUS, MSI, or Gigabyte board and I promise you'll be much better off.
I would also recommend going socket AM3 as even the bottom end DDR3 kits are a bit speedier than DDR2-800.

Other than that, make sure you get a good power supply (only component that has the ability to kill all your other components)
Good luck and feel free to ask away whatever you might need to know!

Hummmmm, let's see........ 2 x 939 6100, 1 x am2 7025, 1 x am2+ 760G, 1 x am2+ 780G , and 1 x am2+ 790GX XE and the only one that has "died" is the 780 that I didn't do a good job of cleaning up H2O leak. 1 x M378A - CM that is currently driving me nuts with the onboard video.

Actually that is why there are more than one manufacturer, like Ford vs Chey vs Toyota vs whomever! BTW second choice........

Actually in the nine years I've been learning this game, never bought a gigabite mobo........what would you suggest for an "inexpensive" replacement for my Asus if I can't get it going? Needs to be mATX. :)

Put the "gigabtte ga-ma78gm-s2h" into a search engine and was sent to CDW.com and found this - This product was discontinued as of Thursday, March 19, 2009.

Thanks for the info guys.....didn't mean to steal this thread!! If I can swing it (meaning getting past the wife! :axe: ) I'm looking at a combo from the egg using a Biostar 790GXE mATX that is just one step below my 790GXE XE. At least I somewhat understand the bios layout on them.
