hybrid crossfire is simply one card + the onboard graphics(marginal gain, teh board and gfx card combine some power via PCIe slot) whereas crossfireX combines two or more graphics cards for great performance gains (near double performance, via Crossfire connectors)
(with over ~$80 graphics cards hybrid crossfire HURTS performance, with really low end cards it bumps a couple FPS)
