Gigabyte has not officially launched its new Intel Z68 G1-based motherboard series, but the company posted up imaged of a board called the G1.Sniper 2 today on Facebook showing off what appears to be the first board of the series.
The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 stands out from the Z68 crowd by offering a Killer NIC E2100 as well as a proper X-Fi audio chip with dedicated memory. It also has a pair of x16 PCI Express slots in a dual x8 setup, two PCI Express x1 slots and two PCI slots.
The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 has seven internal SATA ports and connectors for two front USB 3.0 ports and six USB 2.0 ports as well as a serial port.
The CPU socket area looks well designed and you can see the two pairs of DDR3 memory slots.
On the rear I/O panel you have the usual PS/2 port, seven USB 2.0 ports, one powered eSATA port, two USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet port powered by Killer NIC E2100, 7.1-channel audio jacks, optical S/PDIF and an HDMI port. There is also an overclock button for easy overclocking.
The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 has a copper shield around the audio capacitors, something that we haven't ever seen before on boards that have similar audio solutions.
