Shipping Damage - When FedEx Drops a PC

Well the system that I was going to be giving away on here on the site and Facebook arrived and after opening it up you can clearly see that it didn't make it...

inside.jpg

As you can see the video card isn't sitting right and the drive cage is blown out at the bottom.

drive-bay2.jpg

Yup, clearly got dropped...

drive-bay.jpg

The top of the drive cage got ripped apart as both of the pressed in fittings got pulled out of the case.

The PCIe slot has pulled away from the motherboard and bent down from the drop and the weight of the GeForce GTX 570 video card

The case had some rattles and I found some spare parts.

Ouch...that's really disappointing... Can't you send a complaint and make them pay for the damage?

It was insured, so a claim was started with FedEx... An investigator will be calling me by Tuesday to start the process.

Just curious here, who built the system? Looks like a quality build all the way around. Lian Li, Antec WC, SSD, RAID, etc...

GraVT built it and they are a subsidiary of LTMICRO.

FedEx is notorious and damages more items than any other shipping company :( To think they couldn't tell that it was a PC in the box.

That sucks! I wonder what the stats are for such claims. I pretty much doubt FedEx or UPS would want the public to know how many things they break during delivery. Good luck with your claim!

aww, should have shipped video card in the retail box. and then stuffed bubble wrap inside :\. and then ziptie those cages together so they don't expand like that.
We do that at a major computer retailer here in Canada, not bestbuy nor futureshop. one that does custom builds and such

No clue... It was returned to Fedex for an insurance claim and they are building a new one for the winner that gets announced next week I think.

Our fedex guy drops the boxes from waist height when he delivers stuff. I shudder to think what happens at the distribution centers.
