6950 cant play BF3 help!

here is a viedo of whats happening - FRAPS looks to stay at 60FPS so I dont know what is causing this stuttering - I even set the graphics to medium as you can tell by the video. I took this video about 5 minutes after a cold boot.
here is my new rig

I noticed the gfx card has been flashed to the 6970 BIOS, I would flip the switch on top to go back to the 6950 BIOS and start there. Could be an issue with that

thats the first thing I tried... so that video is with the original BIOS

More than likely BIOS flash related... I played through the game with a Radeon HD 6950 and didn't have that. Flip the switch back to stock and see if it does it.

when I get home from work today I will see if skyrim does the same thing but I need to install it first. I am also going to scrub the drivers and start from scratch on those.

second I'll try my 5770 card and see if the same thing happens..

any chance it could be the OCZ SSD drive? not sure how but seems they have been getting some bad reviews lately.

I can put the 6950 into my old rig and see how it runs BF3 also to rule out the card I guess.

on a good note I stopwatched the system last night and from the time I hit the power button it took 1:32 to be spawned and ready to kill in bf3

I just switched to 4 Vertex 3 SSDs for the test benches here in the lab and I haven't had any issues yet... The GPU test system is already running on a Vertex 3 drive. I'm guessing you have the latest firmware?

It looked more like a lag issue to me, so not video related. When's the last time you updated your NIC drivers?

I just built the rig last weekend and go the drivers off MSI site. - Something that was odd was that Windows 7 didnt have a generic driver that worked for the nic.

I will try single player mode and see if I get the same problems.

What motherboard did you buy? Most boards today use a Realtek Gigabit NIC. If that's the case Realtek usually updates their sound and NIC drivers every 1-2 months.

Nevermind, just saw what board you bought. And indeed it's running a Realtek 8111E chipset. Other things to try...
Update the Intel RST drivers.

Update the BIOS, if it isn't already.

Install the latest Intel chipset drivers. (For whatever reason this version is newer than the one on Intel's website.)

thanks major - i'll give all that jazz a try - I did update the bios to the newest but thats about it as far as whats on your list. dang wish I set up remote access. this is killing me waitng.

So this is going to sound dumb but I dont see any installer in the realtec driver package. I just need to update that in device manager correct?

is CCleaner still good for cleaning out old drivers?

With the Realtek you can download the installer or just the driver and update it through the Device Manager. CCleaner is more for temp files. The program I think you're looking for is Driver Sweeper.

I use logmein, but I still need to set it up on this PC. ok one of the drivers you linked Intel RST drivers gave me an errro meggage that the PC doesnt meet the minimum requirements for teh software.

ok all the other drivers are installed - here goes nothing.

I was hope full when I was about a minute in and nothing on multiplayer going bad but after my second respawn it started right away.

I have a gig usb ethernet connection I'll see if that works for now while I return this motherboard. looks like the media server is going off line for a bit.

If you don't meet the requirements then you aren't running your drive in RAID or AHCI. No AHCI means no TRIM either.

yeah, I do need to get AHCI enabled. thanks again...

Turns out it is the onboard NIC, I was able to play all weekend with no problems with the USB ethernet adaptor.

Glad you got it fixed. Sucks that the NIC was defective. Good news is they are cheap to replace.

In that tweak me program I can't get the check boxes to stay checked. Everytime I go back in they are not checked.

AHCI I could tell right away the system is even faster once that was enabled.
