"Last used" spec for Control Panel

Postby unfaithfulsfan » Sat May 12, 2012 2:17 pm

Howdy!
I'm doing some maintenance on the Village computers today. Also, am trying out some TechRebublic recommended uninstallers/utilities. I keep stumbling across programs that, to me, don't exactly "fit the skillset" of the two clerks but, since I can't talk to either one of them till next week, it'd be nice to be able to tell when the last time was that the programs were used. Both are W7 32-bit SP1 PCs.

Thanks and a Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!! :supz:
Jack

I've never had much luck with that information. It might says something has never been used yet I use it all the time. Example: It might show that I've never used Adobe Creative Suite, yet I used Photoshop all the time. I looked around and I don't see any app that tells you this information other than the built-in uninstaller in Windows.

I have either found that the programs look too deep into things, like Major_a says, or don't look deep enough I.E Nero has many extra bits that never got used on my PC yet the software said that it was all the time.

Windows is your best bet to give you an idea of when things were last used.

And also having said that I haven't played some of the games I have installed for a while but wouldn't be pleased if they were uninstalled.

Thanks, guys!

Before I got deathly ill Sat evening, I'd thought of another way to verify whether the pgm was something used. I'd launch the app then check "Open Recent" or see if there was otherwise a list of docs that had been used in the app. That saved me a lot of woe and worry!!

Thanks, again!!
