Dilemma

Postby sbohdan » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:13 am

which SSD do you guys recommend to buy in case they are the same price: OCZ Vertex 4 128GB or Samsung 830 128GB?
Looking through tests it's not clear to me which of the two is faster or even more reliable? My rig is in my sig and I thought of an upgrade of my 60GB C300 :-k

That's a tough call. I am using a M4 128 SSD from Crucial and so far it has been pretty reliable. Of course keeping it up dated to the latest firm ware helps out loads.

Why?

My hesitation is based on the AS-SSD and the real life performance benchmarks:

The AS-SSD benchmark shows a superior score of the Vertex 4 (I saw above 1000p for the 128GB) but the real world tests show the samsung to be faster. Reliability is said to be vastly improved on the vertex 4 (I saw no complaints of it as the previous gen. vertex drives), so I ask again - which drive is really faster (reliability seems to be similar)?

+1 Samsung

There's a reason why OEM's use them.

Performance is not affected by compression either.
To me Sandforce and reliable don't belong in the same sentence.

I'm confused. The Vertex 4 uses Indilinx and I thought the Samsung 830 uses Sandforce as controller... so if Sandforce isn't reliable (so I gathered also reading posts), than why vote on the Samsung?
The Indilinx seems super stable and reliable (in fact OCZ gives 5 years warranty)
