kingston using bga ics

i just noticed that the past 2 shipments from kingston to the store i work at for the matched 2x512 value ram they've started using bga. they're rated at 5ns, so far its only that matched pair they're showing up in

apparnetley BGA produces less heat, thats why they are used on GFX cards...

What model of memory? was it a registered or unbuffered module?

Immortal it produces less heat and improves signal integrity allowing the ram to run at higher frequencies. When you have the solder points exposed like in regular TSOP(it think that’s what its called) the parallel nature makes the ram more susceptible to EMI and RF interference

its is called a TSOP, and yes ur absolutley right, i knew it means lower heat and higher ferequencies but i didnt know it improved signal quality and reduces EMI... thnx infinite!

just got a shipment of their 256 and 521mb singles, the 512 are using bga too now

my guess is that they are using the ddr2 fab to crank out ddr until they are ready to realy ramp ddr2. kinda like dresden making xp's.

( i have no research to back this up its totaly speculation. )

its small couple of stores in oregon called enu, though we do sell quite a bit maybe not as much as the local fry's store but we sell better quality cheaper its alot funner too because we can nose around the new shipments of stuff :D
