I got the AS5 on my CPU and now my comp is up and running. I will do a follow up on what my temps are before and after AS5 is applied on the CPU. Temps are taken from BIOS or PC Probe.

Before

Idle:32C (BIOS)
Load:50C (Orthos small ftts)

After

Idle: 32C (BIOS)
Load: 48C (Orthos small ftts)

Now I know that AS5 has a break-in period, but shouldn't my temps be a bit lower? I think Apop did a comparison between AS5 and Intel's stock TIM and the temp difference was about 3C before the AS5 was broken in. I might have put on a bit too much AS5, but I am satisfied with the results. I will write another post about the temps by the end of the week. Thanks everyone for all you help.

You probably won't notice a big difference between each idle temps simply because your room temp plays the biggest role there and you can't really cool a CPU much under 30 on air.

Hmm, is your CPU overclocked? 48 seems kinda high, my 4200's cores at stock under full load are at 40C and 44C (CPU would probably need some lapping), a bit undervolted, at 1.3V

The CPU is at 2100mhz with 1.25V. I think I put a bit too much AS5 on it....

BTW, when I got the idle and load temps before I had applied AS5, the AC was on and since my computer is directly on top of the vent so that's going to have a small impact on my temps. For the idle and load temps after AS5 is applied, the AC is off since the house is cool and it's not even hot outside.

Oh and like ken said, the internal diode chips for socket 939 are experimental. I have an AM2 so I don't think mine is experimental but you never know. The difference between Core 0 and 1 range from 5-10C according to Core Temp. But, I've learned that AMD goes with temperature readings from programs like PC Probe (TCase) so now I just follow and use the temps given out by PC Probe.

Don't put on too much AS5 or it won't help at all. Only use about the size of a grain of rice in center of the CPU.

This may sound dumb but I personally don't worry about the temperatures. If there is instability it will happen before you can go too high. Since you are only using the default VCore to overclock you aren't going to break anything.

But I'm undervolting. Such high temps even when the chip is at 1.25 vcore. I used to get around 45C when running FAH at 80%, but now with AS5 I get 46C when running FAH at 85%. I had thought that the AS5 would lower the temps significantly since originally, it looked like the stock TIM wasn't applied properly and the heatsink would move around a bit when the CPU was cool.

I think I did put a bit too much AS5 in the center of the CPU. I had tried to remove the excess AS5 with a q-tip. None the less, I am satisfied. I will write a follow up on my temps tomorrow.

Edit: Can't write the write up on my temps today because I'll be going to Orlando for two weeks. I'll post the temps when I come back.

I'm back from my vacation, so I'll do the write up for my temps now. Sorry it took so long.

1 Week after I applied AS5

Idle: 38C (BIOS)
Load: 48C (Orthos small ftts)

Edit: PC Probe gives me 34-38C for the idle temps. Does anyone find it weird that it's lower than what I got from the BIOS?

Time for me to start my overclocking adventure.

Get CoreTemp, it will give you the temprature of each core instead, for some reason, at least for me, processor temp is always higher than either of the cores temp.

Basically sitting in the BIOS the CPU is at 100% usage. In Windows you will hardly ever see 100% usage. Hence your temps are less.
