D945GTP SATA Config

Postby Fakum » Sat Sep 15, 2007 11:13 am

I have an intel motherboard D945GTP. I have a SATA hard drive. I have read the readme files and installation documentation. I am still not clear. All I want to do is install 1 SATA hard drive, do I boot up in F6 to install the raid driver before I install Windows XP, or do not install the raid driver? Do I set the bios for SATA config for (IDE), (Raid) or (AHCT)? The reason I ask is because I have experimented a bit with this, and I am still not sure what is the optimal or required configuration. Also, it seems now that the file "iastor.sys" on the raid floopy disc is now corrupted or damaged, and I can no longer F6 with this disk. If i am supposed to use this to set up my drive, I need to find repacement files. Thanks

If you only want to install 1 SATA drive, you do NOT want or need RAID. Raid is typically used for multiple drives. I have a single SATA drive on my machine and I set the bios to SATA (IDE).

Thanks for the reply, yes i am only installing 1 for now, I will be adding a 2nd later just to add some storage space for backups etc. But the bios setting, it has 3 options for sata config, they are "SATA config for (IDE), (Raid) or (AHCT)" which one do I choose if I am not going to load the raid in F6 ?
