Sweet. That was the first question I always thought about lol. But with no "spinning up" required it is pretty darn fast.

Re: ADATA XPG SX8200 M.2 SSD Review

Very nice reading!

What is the performance hit with the power management on compared to off? Does it take a second or so to ramp up the pci bus or is it so fast it is not even noticeable?

Re: Bios reset problem

When I switch off and then on the vacation switch on the back of the PSU the BIOS is reset. The bios reset problem is a new issue which may related to another tread I posted in homebuilt (I recently bent/damaged an internal sata port and knocked the case over). I have already replaced the CMOS batt...

I bought Maker's Muse 50 3d printing tips book last year :)

Your powerspec looks just like the qidi printers http://www.qd3dprinter.com/ ....hmmm No Micro Centers around me though. Only one in PA doesnt carry them either.

Re: Anyone into 3d printing?

Thanx Bubba :) I have Cura installed and used it to do my idea to get a general idea how long it would take to print and just to see if I could get it right. Basically a glorified computer controlled glue gun. LOL - I never thought of it like that but it is the perfect description! The Prusa is amaz...

Anyone into 3d printing?

I would love to get in to it but the hardware seems to be really expensive unless you know a lot about engineering/building them. Does anyone mess around with them? Curious as to first hand knowledge of user experience rather than watching videos or reading reviews online. There are so many out ther...

Re: What games do you currently play?

Console - Playing Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, Maybe soon Far Cry 3 (is there a theme there lol)

I don't do much indie gaming just because of the cost. Don't have a lot of spare money these days so I pick and choose what i am going to get and I love the long games like Skyrim, Fallout and now Far Cry.

Re: why this section dead?

They are around but most people shy away from forums now a days as they think social media is a better way to communicate (it is NOT). Forums are great for ongoing discussions and hopefully people will realize this and come back into the fold before they all go away. I game mostly on my PS4 and PS3 ...

hide.me
protonvpn

I do not use a vpn as my speed is so limited now (living in the country in USA sucks for internet) it just kills my speed and bandwidth limitations.

Those are free services I have used. Most of the really good ones are pay.

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-Core 65W Processor Review

It's just the architecture differences between Intel and AMD. IPC has been better on Intel for years and continues to be better despite AMD getting over 40% IPC improvements with Zen. That is why before Zen no enthusiast was touching AMD. AMD needs to put a flux capacitor on each core. I think an o...

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-Core 65W Processor Review

Why does the Ryzen 7 2700X running at 3.7ghz have a MUCH lower single core score compared to the i7-8700K? i.e. Cinebench R15 - Intel - 206 and Ryzen - 179 even though they are the exact same clock speed. Even overclocked the single core speeds are LOWER than they were at stock speeds lol not by muc...

Re: Intel Optane Memory Tested With Secondary Hard Drive

Again pricing is just so weird as you can buy a regular SSD for cheaper than you can the 64GB module. I could see the 16gb and MAYBE the 32GB ()even though you can get a lower end/lower capacity SSD for around the same price on sale) but after that it seems almost foolish. Ok had a thought.....maybe...

Re: DDR4 Memory Scaling Performance with Ryzen 7 2700X

How much of a real-world improvement be for higher clock memory? When would a user notice the different? I just purchased 2400 memory, curious if I should return it and buy 3000+. unless you are building a top of the line kick ass computer that will run the newest games at the highest 4k resolution...
