Re: Thinking of Intel
Thats a harder desision than the first post. The 2 CPUs are a lot closer (I think the Intel is better) Either one would be really nice. Now on to the memory, this is a much better deal for memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220174 (they may as well give it away for free)

Re: 2 Questions
LOL, I bought 2 of the ECS version...(I never thought I would hear myself saying that) I think as long as you get it through Newegg you are fine as their return policy is pretty good. For me usually electronic stuff goes bad in the beginning or lasts a long time so their 30 day return policy is fine...

Re: Diagnostic dilemma
I have seen hundreds of people RMA mobos and memory and wondered how many would have worked fine if they had just set them right from the beginning.
To the memory experts here, will two 2 gig sticks run at 1T?

Re: Diagnostic dilemma
can you put your PS in your sons comp?
Do you have a digital volt meter? (get one if not)
as to ram prob that sounds a lot different than a Default setting, have you set the bios to the specs (and voltage) of the memory?
tried switching memory slots or just using 1 stick?

what about dropping the height a couple of inches (one help would be a laptop DVD)
My bro is a big wig involved with style and told me befor a rectangle (as a apposed to a square) catches peoples eye better.
PS: I really like your technical drawings and that you used an ATX mobo.

Re: Never ending search for a GOOD smallish cube case.
Word of caution, the AC Accelero needs some kind of airflow over the heatsink to work with any kind of effectiveness. Normally in the passive mode inside a case, it relies on negative air pressure inside the case to force air in through the back PCI bracket and across the cooler that way. So on you...

Thats the issue with USA and FREEDOM, it allows people to be fat (like me) and thin ones to make rules trying to ban us.

Like dicecca112 posted looks like you need to bypass 4 gigs and go directly to 8DMB2000uk wrote: I can't believe I found a legitimate need for 4Gig of RAM.

Re: Phenom worth it?
When OCing is involved the Intels come out ahead. The issue is how much do you REALLY OC?hercules71185 wrote:anyone know if the phenom rivals intel in their price range? With overclocking included.
For me I OC and run a benchmark or 2 for about 10 min than I get tired of it and go back to stock.

Re: New Build Advice
wow, hard to improve on whats been said so far. Both PS recommendations are very good (I use PC Power & Cooling, absolute best) but the Corsair is Excellent and like said the modular cabling may help with the clutter. For a case I would look to Lian Li, the new hardware mentioned will add a LOT ...
